The Black Wealth Family Foundation will host Reel Returns, a private salon in Martha’s Vineyard focused on film finance, entertainment investment and the advancement of Black wealth.
Scheduled for 13 August, the event is part of The Wealth Weekend platform. It will convene an invited group of family offices, high-net-worth individuals, fund managers, institutional allocators, founders, advisors, executives and entertainment leaders to focus on capital, ownership and strategic relationships.
Je’Caryous Johnson, an acclaimed playwright and producer who has overseen more than 40 national touring productions through his entertainment enterprise, will act as master of ceremonies. Contenu Entertainment, led by president Darius Evans Sr., will participate as a programme partner, with Evans moderating the day’s discussions.
The event will commence with a private breakfast and curated introductions, followed by two sessions designed to examine the creative, financial and legal infrastructure necessary to transform entertainment projects into commercial assets.
The first session, titled Greenlight to Premiere, will feature film and television director Mark E. Swinton and filmmaker Reesha L. Archibald. The discussion will cover the movement of projects from creative vision to commercial reality and how investors evaluate early-stage opportunities in Hollywood.
The second session, titled Hedging the Slate, will feature Nea A. Simone, founder and CEO of Bespoke Media Marketing, and film capital advisor Aneesah Bray. This segment will address the protection of intellectual property, capital structures, tax incentives, digital ownership and royalty models.
Reel Returns is intended to move industry conversations beyond representation toward ownership by connecting creative leaders with the capital and institutional infrastructure required to build durable, Black-owned entertainment assets. The invitation-only salon also serves as a preview for the 2027 Wealth Weekend platform, which will focus on access to capital and multigenerational wealth-building.
