New York City is on track to set a new tourism record in 2025, with an estimated 68 million visitors expected to travel to the city, according to the Office of the New York State Comptroller. This projection surpasses the city’s previous peak of 66.6 million visitors in 2019, reinforcing its status as a global destination.
As travel demand continues to surge, Broadway remains a cornerstone of the New York experience, drawing audiences from around the world. The Broadway Collection, which curates a selection of must-see productions for international travelers, has unveiled a diverse winter lineup that blends classic favorites with highly anticipated new shows.
Among the standout productions is Boop, a vibrant reimagining of the beloved Betty Boop character, premiering at the Broadhurst Theatre. SMASH, inspired by the hit television series, takes audiences behind the curtain of a Broadway musical in the making, while Stranger Things: The First Shadow delves into the origins of the popular Netflix series at the Marquis Theatre. Other productions include the WWII spy thriller Operation Mincemeat, the Afro-Cuban music celebration Buena Vista Social Club, and the dark comedy Death Becomes Her.
“Broadway is an essential part of the New York City experience, and with a mix of new productions and long-running classics, there’s something for every visitor,” said a representative from The Broadway Collection.
Tourism officials note that the winter season remains an ideal time to visit, offering travelers the chance to explore the city with fewer crowds while enjoying seasonal events and performances. Alongside new shows, long-standing Broadway staples such as Hamilton, The Lion King, and Chicago continue to captivate audiences.
With demand for theater tickets expected to rise alongside tourism numbers, visitors can book in advance through official ticketing channels.
