Sir Shefik Honored with Proclamation from New York State Senate and Senator Kevin Thomas

On the occasion of the 50th Annual Harambee Festival, Sir Shefik Macauley, known mononymously as Shefik, was awarded a Proclamation from the New York State Senate. Senator Kevin Thomas presented the Proclamation, acknowledging Shefik’s outstanding service and contributions to the State of New York and beyond. The recognition highlights Shefik’s work as a media personality, philanthropist, and advocate for numerous causes, including Domestic Violence Awareness, Human Trafficking Awareness, Mental Health Awareness, Autism Awareness, and Women’s Empowerment.

The Harambee Festival, organized by Harambee Dallas and the Citizens Committee to Save Our Children, took place on October 26, 2024. Harambee, meaning “all pull together” in Swahili, is a Kenyan tradition of community self-help and the official motto of Kenya. The event was initially created in the 1970s as an alternative to Halloween, offering a cultural and educational experience for children, youth, and adults.

Shefik served as the Producer, Director, and Host of the festival’s live-stream broadcast, a role he has held since 2020. The broadcast was produced from multiple studios in New York, with Paradise Studios in Massapequa serving as the primary location and Harlem Film House in Harlem as the secondary location. During the live stream, Shefik received the Proclamation in recognition of his contributions to the event and his broader advocacy work.

Shefik expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “I am honored to receive this prestigious recognition from the New York State Senate.”

Shefik is the Executive Producer and Host of the nationally syndicated radio show and video series Shefik presents Invocation. The multimedia platform reaches over 1 million listeners monthly and has received more than 40 industry awards since its inception on July 4, 2016. Through this platform, Shefik amplifies diverse voices and thought patterns, aligning his content with philanthropic endeavors and non-profit partnerships.

Earlier in 2024, Shefik was elevated to the rank of Knight, Grand Cross in the Equestrian Order of Michael Archangel, recognized by the Sovereign Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan, which holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Additionally, he holds the ranks of Grand Knight, Grand Cross in the Royal Order of the Obeng II and Kofo (Noble Warrior), Grand Cross in the Royal Order of the Golden Fire Dog.

Through his multifaceted roles as a media professional, philanthropist, and advocate, Shefik continues to champion causes that inspire positive change and empower communities worldwide.
