Todd “TJ” Stein, a lifelong resident of the Upper East Side, has officially announced his candidacy for District Leader in Assembly District 76, Part A. A third-generation New Yorker, Stein is running to bring his passion for public service and decades of leadership experience to the role.
Born and raised in the district, Stein has dedicated his life to serving his neighbors and sees this position as an opportunity to strengthen the Democratic Party while fostering stronger connections between residents and their representatives. “My candidacy reflects my desire to serve and empower our neighborhood during these increasingly challenging times,” Stein said.
The Democratic Primary in June 2025 will be a pivotal moment for the community. Stein’s platform focuses on advocating for voting rights, ensuring judicial integrity, and promoting transparency within the party. He also aims to organize voter registration drives, support poll workers, and educate residents on civic engagement resources. “My goals include advocating to eliminate outdated rules, ensuring inclusivity and representation in our political process,” Stein explained.
As a small business owner for more than 30 years, Stein has firsthand knowledge of the district’s needs and challenges. This experience, combined with years of community involvement, has equipped him with the skills to build coalitions and effectively advocate for his neighborhood. His Campaign Manager, Marlene Schneider, praised his ability to unite people, noting, “TJ has demonstrated the ability to bring people together to achieve common goals, a skill set that will benefit our party as we face evolving challenges.”
Stein views the role of District Leader as vital in today’s political landscape. From organizing party activities to nominating judicial candidates and ensuring fair elections, the position directly impacts local democracy. “As a small business owner, I have a deep understanding of the needs and concerns of the district’s residents and businesses. I am committed to using these experiences to make a positive impact on the community,” Stein said.
Grateful for the support he has received, Stein is optimistic about the campaign and invites residents to join him in shaping the district’s future. “Together, we can make a meaningful impact in our neighborhood and Party and create a more inclusive, engaged, and democratic community,” he said.
