In the field of solar science, the COFFIES project is utilizing artificial intelligence to predict active regions on the sun that could lead to storms. Regarding lunar operations, NASA has completed an astronaut-deployed science instrument for the lunar surface and delivered a navigation system for commercial lunar relay. The agency also intends to observe the lunar impact of a rocket part.
Current research also includes efforts to establish crew exposure limits for Martian dust. Other recent agency updates include the announcement of the MAX POWER aerospace expo and observations regarding volcanic smoke in the Cascade volcanoes and various solar eclipses.
